1. King of Ancient Mycenae (City-State in Southern Greek Peninsula) during the Trojan War. Right after he came home from that war, his wife, Clytaemnestra, and his cousin, Aegisthus, conspired against and killed him. (In many accounts, Clytaemnestra stabbed him in a bathtub.) After this, Agamemnon's son, Orestes, killed his mother and Aegisthus as retribution.
Agamemnon's homecoming is a major theme in Homer's Odyssey. The "Agamemnon incident" is brought up numerous times, especially when talking about people coming home, traitors, and the faithfulness of wives.
2. (Verb) To brutally kill someone.

Agamemnon was the leader of the ancient Greek army. He sacrificed his daughter Iphigenia to the goddess Artemis in order to get the weather to cooperate so his army could sail to Troy.
It is to commit so much to achieving a goal that it is unthinkable to not achieve it as you cannot recover. It is important to remember to NEVER go full Agamemnon.
